Pros
Interesting projects in interesting companies. Can be augmenting the accounting staff by yourself (e.g. serving as an assistant controller) or part of a large team performing a specific task for the client (e.g. carving out a subsidiary for sale). Additional hours worked are compensated at a reasonable rate (but not time and a 1/2) Generally have had good, smart people to work for and with. Lots of opportunity for additional compensation. If you bring in a client or a new recruit, regardless of your level, you get a cut/ bonus.
Cons
Benefits are a bit pricey and not as much vacation time as a Big 4 401k program leaves much to be desired Life style is still a bit like Big 4; one week you do 40 hours and the next week a new engagement demands 70 hours No paternity leave
