Pros

The leadership/partners are approachable and make time for their employees. There is a big push to build their culture/relationships through virtual and in-person activities. Not a lot of 'red-tape'/formal policies since the firm is still pretty young. Some input into the projects you get staffed on and the clients are generally smaller and in some neat industries. (Fortune 1000).

Cons

This firm follows a temporary staffing/interim role. That is, a client will request a part-time need to backfill a leaving employee, or similar. You'll be staffed for several months, and report to a client contact on a day-day basis. The scope of your engagement will be hours based, and usually for ~40-60% utilization. This essentially means your tasks are fair game by the client (e.g. administrative, analysis, reporting, anything). Second, you'll be pushed on to multiple clients at once. Have fun managing 2-3 schedules, competing priorities, maintaining meeting/call attendance while still managing your part-time allocation budget. These projects may or may not be in your area of expertise or interest - as the goal is to keep you billed. Second, big push for building offering collateral, but there is very little structure here. A task list of to build items (templates, slideware, etc), but the mid-management group can't articulate what it's actually supposed to mean. So you have contributors creating items, that don't align to a greater focus and the outcome is a mishmash of 'deliverables' with varying quality, style and usability. The initial wave of 'Managing Directors' were promotes from the Senior Manager role - now there is a Director step in between. So leadership ability doesn't necessarily coincide with titles at larger firms. Benefits are expensive, especially coming from Big 4, and the additional 'perks' are not available. This is somewhat expected, and may improve as this firm grows. Remember, this is a PE backed organization - so high billables, low expenses will always be the mantra.

Promotion from Director to MD may not have an overall pay increase depending on total commissions and OT you were earning before at Director that are not applicable at MD
