Great coworkers. Too bad management makes us rat on each other.
Cons
Management is toxic. The nurse managers have no management education or managerial experience. The only feedback you will receive is punitive. The management expects the nurses to rat each other out. Nurses are expected to carry out non nursing duties that should be carried out by social work. Nurses are expected to adhere to rules (like no cell phones) while the doctors aren't punished. Any constructive criticism will be construed as complaining and a target is placed on your back. New grad nurses come to CHOC and leave the minute they have enough experience. Salaries are not competitive and there are no perks. The CNO does not advocate for her nurses. We are expected to do whatever she says and be thankful. My advice is to seek a job at UCI or Kaiser.
