Pros

If you're lucky, your local office team is wonderful like mine. But I've heard that a lot of the local offices are NOT. And if that is the case the only pro is a paycheck and free cable services.

Cons

They pay too little for the demands they make on you. The only employees that aren't perpetually broke are the ones that have spouses for dual incomes. Single employees struggle financially, even if they don't have kids. They are perpetually understaffed both in the field and in the offices but remain in a hiring freeze. The shortage of staff in the field means that we are constantly booked out by a week or even two for trouble calls and if a customer misses a pre-call dispatch refuses to send a tech back despite the fact that customers are always saying that they either weren't called or the phone only rang twice before the caller hung up. Systems crash or glitch regularly making it difficult to do your job either because you can't use a vital application or because you have to deal with customers who are angry because they were billed twice this month and not billed the previous month. There is little to no room for advancement, in fact, they recently demoted a number of leads and even cut their salaries. Lots of entrenched local management don't care about their system's infrastructure or much of anything else because they don't have to. Basically, it's become increasingly obvious that the company only cares about dividend pay out to major shareholders. They don't care about their employees and they don't care about their customers. It's become a cash cow and they'll milk it until it dies.
