Pros

Works with employees, Focus groups, accepts suggestions, treated as individual for most part. Good employees are given breaks within reason. Although I have not worked there for 4 years I assume nothing has changed with their way of doing business. Management is open to suggestions from employees, also provides good opportunities in the center for specialized duties for those that are capable and express interest. Management "listens" to employees. Seems to promote from within, at least they say they do. Equipment in good and clean working condition, nice calling floor. Tools work. Not a high paying job but paid well for what it is, answering phones.

Cons

Call Center. Difficult time management requirements, can be fired for being one minute late, mere half hour lunch breaks. Call center matrix where your calls are monitored and graded sometimes is arbitrary, seems no call is ever graded perfect & a one hour call can be graded less than acceptable for one tiny arbitrary problem. Almost impossible to Bizarre employees in call center floor who feel the center is their personal opportunity to express their "individuality" such as men wearing dresses, satanists who wear blood red colored contact lenses and dreadlocks, weirdos and creeps all part of the "diversity" crowd where the perverse is encouraged but where traditional persons are made to feel very uneasy. These descriptions are of real employees in the center. I'm very laid back but there's a limit to what a person can take. How can you conduct a professional meeting looking into red colored contact lenses and freaky deaky hairdos, and a man wearing a woman's dress gives the company an insincere and "party" attitude. It's a call center, and too many phone operators are holding on to hopes of higher level promotions. It's unlikely. More of a chance of staying a "body answering phones". In most call centers one is tied to a clock and Cable One's is no different. You can be terminated for "Time Management Issues" if late on clock 1 minute for more than 3 times a month. Only half hour for lunch. Calls always in queue and since you're tech support it's all complaints by angry customers. Emotionally draining. Techs must go by a "script" type of deal and difficult to tell a customer the truth, actually. If a tech doesn't manage to check off each "tick" of a mountain of required phrases during calls they get a sort of demerit, which sometimes can be on subjective terms. One never "wins". Management may benefit from looking into Work At Home for call center workers. It's' cheaper and conducive to good, calm, work environment. Look into it!
