Pros

The pay was good at the time ($14 per hr). Nice big break room with flat screen tv.

Cons

I was hired to do tech support. Before I even got an interview, I asked the lady from Nesco Resources (who was doing the hiring for Cable One at the time) if they (meaning Cable One) would work with me since I have to ride public transportation. The lady checked w/Cable One & the person told her YES. However, I think I was like 2 or maybe 3 weeks into training already & had to choose my new upcoming shift that I would be working after I got out of training. I told the supervisor that I would need Workforce Mgmt. to change only 1 day (Saturdays) out of the whole 5 day schedule, so I could get off work like an hour & a half early. This was so I could make it home by the time the last bus came. And of course I could come in an hour & a half early as well - so I would still be getting my 8 hrs on Saturdays. Well she gave me a hard time about it - wanted me to ask a relative or friend if they could give me a ride. What a MAJOR INCONVENIENCE !! So they lied - about working w/people who had to take public transportation. I ended up asking a classmate - whom I had NEVER MET before we both started working there - if he could give me rides on Saturdays. That really pissed me off that I had to go thru that inconvenience of having to find & ask somebody - having to impose on somebody I didn't even know - for a ride. Then on top of that, they gave me & another classmate 2 extra weeks of training - which was very nice of them - but then when it came time to let me take calls all by myself, they allowed me to take calls for 2 weeks & 1 day - and then they fired me !! They said my calls were too long & that I had trouble controlling the calls. Well I have over 12 yrs call center experience - so I know how to take calls & handle customers. However, these were TECHNICAL calls - where u had to have a TREMENDOUS amount of patience - ESPECIALLY with people who weren't tech savvy. U had to wait on the customer to do things you asked them to do. Well that takes time when a person who isn't tech savvy doesn't know what you're referring to, & doesn't understand what you're asking them to do, & you end up having to spoon feed them & hold their hand every step of the way. Those kind of calls take a VERY long time. And of course there were some transfer calls as well - that didn't take very long - so those calls would help reduce the handle time. Therefore, if they had just left me alone & let me get used to the calls, I would have been able to lower that handle time down - but they didn't give me the chance to do that. They could have at least gave me a 90 day probationary period - like a lot of companies do - or at least 30 days - then take a look at it, but they decided to just get rid of me - so they did.
