Pros
You'll get exposure to many different areas, however, tough luck if you find another department you're interested in. They do a very poor job of nurturing employees and giving them different opportunities.
Cons
- Very little career development. The department expects you stay in the department forever, which isn't realistic for people seeking career growth. They don't foster different skills or ability to move to different departments. - Managers lack complete managerial skills. The director and managers are not experienced enough (also, none of the managers have advanced degree or certifications, yet, staff is expected to have them if they want to be promoted??). I could go on but these are the biggest concerns.
