Pros
Decent benefits package, Flexible work hours, Good work environment overall
Cons
1. Scientists (ES) are paid 50% less than the engineers (WRCE) and geologists (EG, btw, they are scientists, too), doing the SAME work. 2. Senior ES (SES) supervisors and managers (EPM) were taken care of in July 2014, by getting a FORTY THREE PERCENT (43%) raise. Rank-and-file staff, ES and SES specialists, were left behind. 3. The more work you do, the more work you will get. 4. Minimal upward mobility until someone is retired or fed up and leaves. BUT, the squeaky wheel gets the oil. You get the idea. 5. The management, like everywhere else I guess, can do whatever they want (for themselves and for those they favor) and justify it. 6. The union, CAPS, is spineless and does not speak for the Waterboard scientists.
