Pros

Large company with a variety of opportunities. Good work-life balance, no overtime. Lots of layers of management, so little personal responsibility if that’s what you’re looking for.

Cons

With the new CEO transition, the company is in chaos. The ultimate direction is unclear- lots of conversation about “opportunities” and “growth” but the reality is consolidation and people leaving (by their own choice or otherwise). Change was needed, because the company had been operating incredibly inefficiently and hemorrhaging peoples’ insurance premium money on layers of management and projects that went nowhere. It remains to be seen whether the situation improves over the long run. Upper management (there’s a lot of it) tends to be hired in, rather than grown from within, and is completely disconnected from individual contributors.

Pros

Some of the smartest bright-minded people in IT work there, or used to. Decent pay and benefits.

Cons

The company appears to be in a constant state of reorganization, creating ongoing uncertainty about job security and contributing to low employee morale. This lack of stability has led to confusion, shifting priorities, and an overall lack of focus, which is reflected in the high turnover currently seen within the IT organization. This is especially disappointing because the company was once known for attracting and retaining IT professionals who built long, successful careers there. Leadership appears to lack a clear, unified vision, and that disconnect starts at the highest levels of the organization. Compared with the previous CEO, who despite his shortcomings was widely respected and viewed as an approachable leader, the current leadership feels much more removed from employees. There was once a stronger sense that executives understood and were connected to the day-to-day experiences of the workforce. Today, that connection feels significantly diminished, leaving many employees with the impression of a growing divide between the C-suite and the people doing the work. Honestly, it's quite sad what has happened to Cambia.
