Pros
You get to make a difference in the lives of children on the spectrum and gain experience working with those with special needs.
Cons
Pay is absolutely abysmal. Find another company that pays their employees a living wage if you want experience as a behavior technician. It shouldn’t be hard as this company pays the least out of all the ABA companies in my area. I wasted too much time at this company making as much as a McDonalds employee ($16/hr) with 20 times the stress, 20 times the responsibilities, and a fraction of the hours. Employee turnover is through the roof because of the working conditions of this company- and the kids getting hurt the most from it without consistent and reliable BT’s giving them care. Wage compression is a real problem here; you could be an employee working at the company for years and a new hire can come in and get paid more than you with the same or less experience.
