Pros

Working at Assurance has been a pleasant surprise. As a newer company, much of the upper management is new to the company. This new management has brought a wealth of experience, positive energy and encouragement. My manager has been very supportive and entrusted me with a variety of marketing initiatives. The staff body as a whole is very interactive and friendly. We do a lot of company wide "spirit events" that keep moral high and create a positive working environment. Also, the headquarters is brand new which provides a fun and modern atmosphere.

Cons

Being a new company there is a major transition period happening. Because of this there has been a lot of turnover with new employees joining and old employees leaving. This creates for an evolving and at times disparate culture as the "old" employees have not been hired by the new management and may have different values or working styles. At time time, the company values aren't explicitly defined. As the company gets more established this should even out.

Pros

Assurance is a pretty young company that was split off of Sungard Availability Services in May, 2018. The company is awesome. The people are really great, and the way we do things feels very much like a start-up. We're really writing our own rules here, and it's fun to come to work every day. I really mean that. The work-life balance is perfect. Employees are not expected to take work home with them. We work hard and are rewarded accordingly. There is room for growth, and the company is growing every day. I am looking forward to seeing where things go in the next couple of years. Assurance is changing the way it does development, which I find exciting. They are very automation-heavy in testing, so the Developers and QA engineers are expected to write automated tests (API and GUI), and even learn .NET/C#. The PMs are expected to work deeply with the customers and not so much hands-on with the development teams. This gives teams more autonomy and ownership of the products they create.

Cons

As I mentioned, Assurance was split off of a larger company earlier in the year. As such, it's still finding its foothold in the industry but things are finally starting to settle down a bit. Meaning, they just had a mild restructuring where a few product managers and QA engineers were laid off. But, it wasn't for monetary reasons, as they're back-filling some of the roles.
