People culture is great. The company is attempting to take strides at approving.

Cons

While you have a lot of time off, and are even given extra days such as volunteer, floating holidays, and wellness days. Its extremely stressful to take time off. The work load is so overwhelming its too stressful to take time off, as it takes days to catchup. There is no good "backup" structure if someone has to take extended time off work or decides to leave the company, or even accepts a promotion. The workload often falls on other roles (on top of their own job responsibilities.). This creates a lot of stress on managers, and leaders. It also prevents them from being able to do their job. This overall hurts the company, as the job is to maintain and grow business. Also the pay is sickening. They do not offer fair pay for the job responsibilities expected of their employees. Also - politics were often brought up in a networking channel, which often caused animosity between employees, and no corrective action was taken on those who brought insults into the conversation, instead of accepting all sides of political views. They did create the "speak up line", but not much came of it when you did speak up.

I suggest having a conversation with your manager or HR partner to discuss creating a backup structure that allows you to enjoy your time off. Regarding compensation, we strive to ensure our employees are compensated fairly for their role and contribution. In terms of politics, we are living in heightened, and often stressful times, and I think it is important to have an open dialogue, as long as we remain respectful and focused on our mission to serve millions of learners around the world. The individuals below the management level are good people, with some good people at management but C-Suite is horrible.

C-Suite hides their plans under corporate speak. Cengage was a family owned private company and they sold and ever since then has had, debt, schemes to shuffle and restructure debt while implementing RIFs after RIFs after RIFs...never ending and amazingly has been in increased this last year. From their actions it's outsource as much as you can of company operations and squeeze value from Intellectual Property. Look how many times they've renamed themselves. They had a CTO join for about a month or two until she realized it was a role with no team, no authority and left. The CEO is amazing at spin, you hear "great, great, great" corporate speak as the reality on the ground is "this failed, that failed..what!? they're gone!...what they moved that department offshore!...what!? that department is now a vendor relationship...oh we're not DEI focused because the wind changed". The trend is contraction not expansion, no ground breaking innovation. My jaded view from college on expensive books has only grew since I see how the sausage is made.
