Pros

Good pay Good benefits Challenging work

Cons

I held 3 positions in 6.5 years. In my first position we had a manger change. The new manager was threatened by the fact I had a Masters degree and would make passive aggressive comments in almost every 1on1 about “well he doesn’t have a Masters degree”. My 2nd position my manager didn’t even know what my function was or what the actual volume of work was. My performance evaluation was done by her and a director and not communicated to me. I found out from my new manager when I changed positions. My 3rd position I was in for 3.5 years and I thoroughly enjoyed the work. I was considered a subject matter expert and was frequently involved in training. Each promotion cycle I was considered but ultimately passed over for some small improvement they wanted to see, something new each time. I was finally told in Nov ‘20 I was being promoted. Then it goes radio silent until the mass cuts in Feb ‘21. I am assigned to my 8th manager in 12 months. She finally comes clean and tells me my promotion had been canceled from above months ago, but our director hadn’t passed that message along. * Poor leadership from the top down, too many layers of people who respond to email and go to meetings above those who actually do work * Too many people were getting promoted to Supv or Mgr positions because that was their next step when they lacked the actual leadership skills required * devotion to the all mighty $$ rather than employees and the patient claims they are responsible for.

Pros

I loved the work and for 6 years was happy with what I did. I knew I made a difference and did my job well. Not many has the same skill set I did and there was always work to do.

Cons

1. It's an old white boys club. I say that as a white individual. It sucks that's how MFN rolls. They say they value diversity but they don't. They will have a token diverse person in an exec role but they're there to be a face, not make any changes or impact. 2. They pay really well but that hurts when you leave. 3. They layoff the good people and keep the undereducated white males. Why? See #1 above. 4. They don't want you if you are female and over 40. Think I'm lying? See the number of females 40+ who got hit in the January "reorganization." 5. HR is a joke. Talent acquisition couldn't find their rear ends with both hands and a map. So many excuses on why they didn't do their jobs. 6. MFN said the HealthNet employees needed to learn the Centene way and the Centene way would prevail. He lied. 7. They never entertained the idea of working from home. At all. Even a 25% WFH option would cut costs and improve morale.
