Junior staffers at CNAS can get good opportunities to build their own expertise, including both internal and external publications as well as media interviews. The organization is well-respected and has a good brand. Work-life balance is generally quite good.

Cons

While it has decent growth opportunities relative to some think tanks, it still suffers from an invisible ceiling between the junior and senior levels. Don't stick around too long, or you will stagnate. Pay is also low, as is typical in a low level think tank job. Culture used to be a strong suit, but it has declined in recent years as the organization has grown.
