Pros

Direct services staff who have a strong passion for helping others are amazing, but under-appreciated. There are lots of career opportunities because of the high turnover rate. Working with kind people makes working in a dysfunctional environment a little more tolerable.

Cons

Executives and Directors are too focused on growing the agency in size and programs without providing the appropriate infrastructure to support employees and direct services staff to do their job successfully. This is a huge agency so your job position determines how much drama and dysfunction you are exposed to. the higher you go, the more you see it. Kind of feels like you're being set up to fail without the basics (e.g. internet and email goes out often, not enough staff is hired so a lot of people feel overworked, people that are hired are sometimes not that competent because the agency hires with salaries below market value and can't afford to pay competent people a decent wage). There is also a huge lack of transparency (e.g. budgets, whole departments being "laid off", only hearing from the CEO once in a blue moon, etc.)

Pros

The overall work is mostly administrative with a lot of client facing interactions. Feels good knowing who it is you are helping out for their child care needs.

Cons

I did not have any cons from my experience there.
