Pros

On paper this role seems like a great opportunity because you are assigned a large book of clients with an open territory to find business in. Many of your calls are outbound to warm referrals your partners set for you, and you are only making cold calls to existing clients of the bank. You will work with branch managers and their bankers to introduce clients to the premier program and help those clients connect with partners within the bank to achieve their goals and deepen their relationship with the bank. The team culture is also nice as well as everyone is down to earth and will help answer any questions you have. This is especially helpful for new to bank colleagues. Additionally, the bank has solid benefits, generous PTO, and decent pay as well.

Cons

Technology: First and foremost, the technology at the bank is the worst in the industry. Day one they will issue you a laptop that is very old and doesn’t work well. However even though you have the laptop you won’t have the appropriate access to any relevant systems for a minimum of 2-3 week (if lucky). It took me 3 months to receive the full system accesses required. In some cases the computers are not setup properly so you must to go to another campus to get computer fixed. However you aren’t expected to miss work so you must use your own PTO to fix the computer that the bank issued you. Management I could not tell you why the direct managers were promoted to their role. Additionally it seems that there may be too many managers doing the work of one person which creates overlap in some areas, no coverage in others, and lots of inconsistency and confusion. The direct managers are not helpful for training new teammates due to very inconsistent messaging, very little on the job training, and taking micromanagement to an extreme level. Probably the strangest thing I witnessed is that they will have conference calls about your teammates performance in an open environment for everyone to hear which is highly inappropriate and makes everyone very self conscious. Position Your assigned branch partners will not help as much as they are supposed to and management expects you to support those partners as much as possible. The flip side is that your partners aren’t held to any accountability to support you so you will be measured by their shortcomings. Because of this much of your time will be spent coaching these partners and figuring out how to work with them instead of helping clients and closing business. When you do work with clients, you will split your time between checking boxes/selling widgets, managing the relationships that you have inherited or built comes in a very distant second place.

Pros

The pros are the benefits, the pay could be higher for all that you learn and have to go through for ten weeks. They offer tuition assistance and opportunity for upskilling and advancing in such little time and the remote flexibility is great too

Cons

Management sucks and of course they have their favorites and then they have the people they target like myself. They micromanage bad and are quick to give you an occurrence for nothing. Their systems are so slow and then they blame you for being five ten minutes late logging in. They want you to tell them when you get up to breathe, go to the bathroom and they push for you to take calls and know boatloads of info after on 3 weeks of training. What they don’t know is that I will sue for any wrong doings or discrimination and I keep records of everything
