30-year Veteran's Perspective - Special Ed Teacher Clark County School District Employee Review

Pros

If you teach in a high needs area (Special Ed, Math, Science), you WILL be hired. I had taught and trained all over the district; some areas/schools are better then others. I personally prefer teaching and working at the "tougher," more at-risk schools. I find the admins more supportive, the parents more appreciative, and the students more willing to learn. Our wonderful CCEA Healthtrust will most likely be bankrupt by November and it's a crapshoot what Insurance will replace it.

Cons

Our state does not support public education and our governor just passed an unfunded mandate allowing parents to request $5,000 for private school voucher, if they want. How our already, poorly funded, huge, school district is going to afford to do this AND service well over 300,000 students is a mystery to me.
