Pros

Clear Street is a relatively new, agile and forward-looking prime brokerage with a focus on hiring skilled and innovative technical engineers to build best in class systems to support experienced operations staff, which will allow the firm to be highly competitive in the market in the coming years as new products are added. The company has a compact employee base which is tight-knit and well-integrated both horizontally and vertically. They are willing to provide very competitive compensation for people with the right skills to drive the firm forward according to the overall vision. The technology is mostly newer and mostly proprietary allowing for an effective CI/CD environment.

Cons

Currently continuing the general Wall Street theme of being a highly male-populated environment particularly in management roles. Would recommend attempting to balance this with future hiring strategy geared towards hiring more women. POC diversity level seems better than gender diversity.

Pros

Great leadership, incredible colleagues and great vision

Cons

Not really much, probably not the right fit if you are trying to pass days/do the same work without trying to innovate, learn, and grow.

Pros

$17 daily DoorDash credit. Free food in the pantry.

Cons

I joined the company before the planned IPO during a period of high optimism and strong morale. However, following the withdrawal of the IPO, I observed a noticeable decline in culture, employee morale, and clarity of direction. In my experience, there was a lack of visible leadership and communication at a time when employees were looking for guidance, which contributed to uncertainty across the organization. While the company positions itself as a fintech with ambitious growth goals, many internal processes felt more aligned with those of a traditional financial institution. I found workflows and processes to be cumbersome and difficult to scale efficiently. Day-to-day work is often highly reactive and process driven. I also experienced a significant amount of oversight and micromanagement, resulting in a job that gave me very low autonomy. In my experience, there was also an expectation of being available outside of normal working hours, despite already being in office for 10+ hours per day.
