Lots of Tension, Lack of Diversity - Software Engineer Clear Street Employee Review

Pros

Money is good, snacks in office, coffee

Cons

Someone else said it as well, but the culture is extremely toxic. "Prove it is my problem" is common among teams trying to work with each other. No one likes helping others or it is combative at best. There are many examples of people arguing about nonsense when we should all be "on the same team". Communication is lacking, people are inappropriate fairly often, and honestly I dread coming in every day for more verbal abuse.

Pros

Great leadership, incredible colleagues and great vision

Cons

Not really much, probably not the right fit if you are trying to pass days/do the same work without trying to innovate, learn, and grow.

Pros

$17 daily DoorDash credit. Free food in the pantry.

Cons

I joined the company before the planned IPO during a period of high optimism and strong morale. However, following the withdrawal of the IPO, I observed a noticeable decline in culture, employee morale, and clarity of direction. In my experience, there was a lack of visible leadership and communication at a time when employees were looking for guidance, which contributed to uncertainty across the organization. While the company positions itself as a fintech with ambitious growth goals, many internal processes felt more aligned with those of a traditional financial institution. I found workflows and processes to be cumbersome and difficult to scale efficiently. Day-to-day work is often highly reactive and process driven. I also experienced a significant amount of oversight and micromanagement, resulting in a job that gave me very low autonomy. In my experience, there was also an expectation of being available outside of normal working hours, despite already being in office for 10+ hours per day.
