Pros

Shift differentials for weekends/night of 15%

Cons

Even if you are part-time you are going to be pressured to work a 50-60 hour week. Schedulers will manipulate you into taking more patients than you are physically able to do because this agency is so short staffed. Oh, and you are required to work every other weekend. So, basically you are working 12 days in a row with no breaks. Basically, this is the most disorganized company I have ever interacted with. I was encouraged initially by the fact that they have been established for such a long time, like a 100+ years. However, it is an extremely dysfunctional environment. The office is so hectic and stressful, even just coming in to turn in paperwork. You have stressed out nurses running around trying to find out what is going on, frenzied schedulers yelling about CNAs in the field and gossiping about patients, angry managers storming in/out of offices and being generally condescending. This is not an exaggeration in any way. Make no mistake, initially I chalked it up to a couple bad days in the office, but every single office stop I have made there is some new catastrophe occurring. It definitely is going to translate into your work in the field as a CNA. There is always a million issues so no one at the office is going to answer their phones or reply to an email for 2+ weeks because it is so hectic.

Great advice. In fact - we have been in the process of restructuring the management/operations in the Paraprofessional Division. We have added CNA Team Leads, a Para Manager, a Preceptor and PCW II – mentors. The good news is that we are growing and our business is expanding and throughout this growth we are making adjustments to ensure that we have the level of support to provide excellence in patient care. The Colorado VNA has also been working on improving the communications….i.e., the smart phone, a phone tree to enable direct calls to extensions and protocol for emails and messages to be answered. It’s a work in progress. The Colorado VNA appreciates your employment and hopefully you will benefit from the changes and enhancements that have been implemented.
