Pros
You have autonomy over planning your individual sessions and groups; you can flex hours within the month if you stay late; organization is open to feedback; program directors provide excellent supervision and build a relationship with you; the services are free for the students and so you can provide mental health services to those who wouldn't have gotten them before; clinical supervision is provided after a year of working their to those who need hours towards getting their LCSW; you get most school holidays off and if you accumulate enough time, July off as well
Cons
As a PM, you have to wear so many hats, from coordinating outside provider groups, to leading your own groups and individual sessions to overseeing AmeriCorps members and interns. When crisis occurs on campus, sometimes you must spend multiple hours assisting one student and are unable to see your other students planned for that day. Time spent logging grades (which are already in the database) as metrics for mental health can also be draining and not always an accurate reflection of the work you do. All-Staff days multiple times per year can be draining because there are so many employees.
