Pros
Having worked at other big non-profit NGOs where your supposedly altruistic work can be heavily abstracted from you in one way or another, it seems that Compassion's mission is actually readily visible and exposed to you on a regular basis. The vast majority of people seem genuinely concerned with the mission, and not just internal tactical issues. The day-to-day spirituality aspect is a key contributor to this; just look at the logo, "in Jesus' name..." While it may seem that such an environment would be inefficient and too much run like a church, this does not seem to be the case at Compassion. Key leaders have a business / for-profit background and now how to steer the ship and be concerned about the bottom line and accountability.
Cons
Like many organizations their size, there is a fair share of bureaucracy and politics, but nothing outlandish in my opinion. Being in a technical field, sometimes they are prone to the proverbial consultant-knows-best mentality, which can be frustrating as you try to expand your expertise, etc.
