Thank you for your feedback. We always appreciate hearing all perspectives. The dynamic nature of our sector requires us to adapt and evolve continuously to meet new demands and opportunities. Organizational changes, while disruptive, are sometimes necessary to align our resources and strategies with our long-term goals. We understand that this can create frustration and may sometimes appear as a lack of direction. However, these changes are implemented out of a desire to be good stewards, with the intention of driving growth and improving our efficiency. Compassion has more than doubled over the last ten years, and with each year we have seen record support from our donors large and small. This past year we experienced double-digit growth for the first time in eleven years, on a budget that was twice as large as the last time we experienced similar growth. Over this time, Compassion implemented a global transnational structure which is common among multinational global organizations. That new organization has proven to be effective, allowing us to globally centralize and upgrade certain critical functions such as IT, Finance, Legal, Security and HR—enhancing and adding many new capabilities to sustain our growth with excellence over the coming decade and beyond. After identifying overlap, consolidation of the Global and USA marketing teams occurred last spring. This did result in a staff reduction. As in any situation when this kind of an extremely difficult decision is made within Compassion, we provide very generous severance packages, outplacement and support services to care for each impacted employee. We believe we are in a strong position to continue thriving in an environment we assume will only become more unpredictable, chaotic and unforgiving moving forward. We also have great confidence in the handful of carefully selected strategies to move Compassion toward realizing its multi-year intent to “scale the ministry to advance life outcomes with more children and youth more quickly.” We appreciate every team member’s contribution helping us move in that direction including yours.
