Pros

Great people to work with

Cons

Upper management has a pretty old-school way of thinking. Most of the managers aren't really into technology. Instead of learning about it, they mainly talk about meeting project deadlines. Honestly, they struggle to understand the technical stuff, which makes it seem like we lack good technical leaders and have too many middle managers who don't contribute much. These middle managers act like they get it and give feedback here and there, but if you pay attention, you'll notice they're not really on the same page. Plus, they're always pushing for the latest tech in our CGS projects without really knowing how it works. At CGS Canada, they treat employees like machines. They constantly give us crazy project deadlines and push us to finish on time. This means a ton of overtime, including weekends and holidays, but they don't pay us for it. Meanwhile, the higher-ups enjoy their weekends, holidays, and vacation days without a care. They even refuse to pay for sick days, even though our contracts say they should. So, if you're sick, you have to use your vacation days to get paid for it. It's pretty clear that this company doesn't really care about its employees. To make things worse, management doesn't consider the time it takes to polish projects and go through the quality assurance process as part of the project's scope. They're always changing their minds about which projects are most important, so it's impossible to focus on just one project. You end up juggling three different projects at once, and management expects all of them to be completed on time. It's surprising how CGS Canada keeps bringing in more clients without considering how many people are actually working here. They boast about being a high-volume global company, but it doesn't seem like they care much about the people who make it all happen.

Pros

No pros working for this company

Cons

- Mandatory unpaid holidays (unless you have PTO available to cover them). - Pay is $16/hr, and increases only seem to happen when the state raises minimum wage. - Internal IT couldn’t fix broken taskbars for 8 months. - They reward employees with occasional pizza days and “National Apple Day” events instead of actual raises. - You have to wait for approval to take breaks/lunch, and there are days when you end up skipping breaks because of call volume. - No real growth opportunities: you’re basically stuck in an L1 role unless you leave the company. - Training lasts 5 weeks where you go through Dell powerpoints for about 2 weeks before “real training”. When we started taking calls, we didn’t know how to do about 80% of the work. - Health benefits only kick in after 90 days. - High turnover rate: my training wave started with 15 people, and we were down to 3 before I left. The same thing happened in other training waves as well. They seem willing to lose money hiring and retraining people instead of giving raises or investing in employee retention. - Some L2s are unprofessional, aggressive, and defensive. Conclusion: Please avoid this company at all costs.
