Pros
-Org is willing to put in the time and effort to train employees to provide a strong start at the lower levels -Rock solid employment stability, you don't have to worry about being fired as long as you do what you were hired to do and don't commit any major infractions -Management doesn't constantly look over your shoulder or micromanage how you do your job provided the job gets done -Good culture of intra-team solidarity
Cons
-Management makes questionable executive and technology decisions that directly impact and often terribly hamper employees' ability to do their jobs -Pay is far under market par. Incentives are horribly lopsided (or nonexistent) depending on what team you're a part of -Year on year hikes are minimal and not at all in keeping with cost of living rises. Management is incredibly tightfisted, which is why there's a ton of attrition to organizations that pay better -No bonuses of any kind. They do the performative "pizza party" thing two or three days a year and that's it -"Anonymous" job satisfaction feedback surveys are never anonymous, employees are coached on how to answer them to maintain the illusion that everything is fine -Management fought tooth and nail to keep employees in office even during the worst pandemic in recent years even though most of us were perfectly capable of doing our jobs remotely
