Pros
Exposure to a range of software products, clients, and global cultures
Cons
Over the last couple years leadership started shipping everything offshore, mostly to India and the Philippines. I've seen so many of my colleagues lose their jobs because of this. The offshore workers are nice enough, but they're just not up to the task. Constant clarification threads, delays, and mistakes left and right. The time zone differences and language/accent barriers make communication a nightmare. Instead of fixing the process or investing in onboarding, management kept cutting costs and moving more work overseas. American teams were hollowed out and we ended up spending more time cleaning up messes than building features. Customers noticed. Those of us still here are all wondering if we'll be next to see our jobs shipped overseas too.
