In our 2023 Employee Survey we introduced specific questions to assess the quality of line and project management. In particular, we asked colleagues to rate their agreement with the following statements: "My line and project managers trust me to do a good job and manage my own time", "I receive an appropriate amount of direction on how to approach tasks", and "my work is subject to an appropriate level of scrutiny/feedback." The UK results showed that 95%, 93% and 91% of respondents respectively strongly agreed, agreed or agreed with these statements. We also ran focus groups with groups of individuals to further delve into this area and we made some small tweaks to ensure that any constructive comments were addressed, including revising the content of some of our training materials.
We recognise that the client-facing nature of our work can result in overtime, although we very much hope that there are peaks and troughs throughout the year in terms of pressure, workload and working hours. We do our best to monitor this, but also encourage individuals to speak with their line managers if they are feeling too much pressure.
