Pros

Decent experience as someone entering crisis intervention, advocacy work, or mental health field for the first time.

Cons

Poor middle management, lack of transparency and complete unwillingness to accept any accountability for why great staff continue to leave. Lots of fluff talk about valuing employees, but little is done to actually show that’s true. Even with lower pay and excuses about funders and being a non-profit, they continue to pump money into administrative and non-client facing roles. Supervisors rarely assist with client work even with critical staffing levels but repeat things about “filling your cup” and “self care.” They nickel and dime everywhere they can, and push staff to the point of burn out to keep programs barely running, but then blame staff for low morale.
