Pros

DSI is a great place to gain experience at the beginning of your career. The company is constantly going through change and is not afraid to explore new operating models and solutions. Supply chain is a steady field and DSI is working to become a leader in the industry. Opportunities for employee advancement are available, just not very many due to the size of the company which is understandable. There does however seem to be a preference to hire externally rather than promoting from within. Benefits are pretty standard but HR does seem to make an effort to ensure employees are mostly satisfied by providing things like free gym memberships, free massage days, holiday events, and occasional happy hours. Finally, there are some good leaders in the organization who try to do the right things and make the right decisions for their employees and clients. There is a lot of pressure from senior leadership that interferes with this at times but both managers I had while at DSI were very knowledgeable and provided excellent mentorship.

Cons

There are several things in the way of DSI moving from just a good place to work, to a great place to work. The biggest concern I had was the lack of job security. Firings became a regular occurrence at one point and there was never any notification prior to termination. At one point both my boss, my VP, and two senior team members were fired within weeks of each other and my team was left without any leadership or guidance. It was evident that no planning had been completed prior to these terminations as my team as well as our clients were left confused and without any guidance. To build off of this, there is no formal review process in place, it was removed and never replaced for unknown reasons. With that said documented feedback is never given resulting in a lack of communication on whether you are performing your job to standard. Without a formal review process or even a method of delivering feedback there is no way of determining what actions may lead to the sudden termination of an employee. You are just suddenly let go if a mistake is made or if you are disliked it seems. Additionally, DSI is a sales first organization. Employees are constantly reminded of this through congratulatory emails of deal closings and weekly reminders of who the top billing employees are. Sales dictates project timelines, project budget, and constantly interferes with product roadmaps as they will promise customers the delivery of a solution simply to close a deal. It is a constant scramble after deal closings as there is no telling what was promised in the sales cycle simply to get the customer to sign. Which as a result reeks havoc on in flight projects as they must now shift in priority to accommodate the new big thing. There are even instances of account execs selling product that isn't even developed yet. It's a terrible cycle which does not seem to end. Other cons include lack of annual raises, no incentive to be a long term employee, and a lack of diversity.

Pros

Worked with a ton of great people. All of the technologies being used are very relevant, chance to learn a ton. Supply chains are really interesting to learn about. Fun work environment where everyone really was trying to help each other succeed.

Cons

Lot of turnover when I was there, which is both good and bad. Mistakes within the tech stack in the past which still haunt the product. These are being remedied now so this should improve.
