Pros
The biggest pro for me is I get to come to work every day in an environment that is fast paced and challenges me to think and create solutions to challenges that our customers may face. DSI allows me to be creative and come up with new ideas and work in a team environment to implement those ideas. I get to develop those ideas into amazing solutions that help our customer’s become more productive and profitable in their business. DSI has great benefits, an amazing office, and even more important a lot of really good people. The people here that work hard and strive to build great software and a great work environment are what makes this a place I have called home for over 15 years with multiple roles and promotions. I get to work with leading technologies. Our team develops with some of the leading cloud native technologies. Our cloud based platform gives our development team and delivery teams everything they need to provide amazing solutions to our customers. We couldn’t do this without the amazing and experienced developers that I get to work with on a daily basis.
Cons
Some of the changes in the past year have created anxiety and negativity among some folks. I like to see the glass half full instead of the other way around. Wish more folks would see how great the software is that we make and continue to work hard to keep making it better. That negative attitude rubs off and those of us that do believe in the direction we are headed have to fight that off a lot. The downtown 1% KCMO tax kind of stinks. The traffic and parking in downtown can be a pain but honestly it isn’t that much worse than when we were in the suburbs.
