Pros

You can get certified to operate trains in the United States.

Cons

Terrible absence policy. I called in because I had Covid. They took all my sick time and charged me 4 points to do the responsible thing. They expect you to arrive at work with Covid and operate a commuter train. I had to call in a second time because they gave me a short 8 hours off between shifts. I was short on sleep because of the wonky scheduling. Their motto is "take the safest route." So, since I was doing the right thing, they still charged me another 4 points for doing the responsible thing. They say the quickest way for people to lose their jobs is due to attendance. Well, it's their policy that's losing their employees. They need to go union! Health insurance is extremely expensive and is not worth it. McDonald's has better health insurance. No work/life balance. For all extra-board operators, we don't know our schedule for the next day until 4:00 PM the day before. You can't schedule any time with your family.
