Pros
When I started working at DigitasLBi, I really enjoyed working with my team and felt really connected to my VP, she was someone I really looked up to. We were short staffed (two of my 5 team members moved to other accounts to keep the work fresh) but we all worked smart and helped each other. All-in-all, the perks and office itself is unbeatable. There is a coffee bar, plenty of lounge areas and a kitchen on each floor with its own seat capacity. The cubes feel spacious and open with lots of natural light (that is hard to find in NYC). I was pleased with the time off and health benefits. Also, working from home is normal. Anywhere else, it almost feels taboo.
Cons
A new supervisor joined my account a few months after I started and completely changed my experience. This supervisor sat by both me and the other planner on the account (who I worked wonderful with and closely), only utilizing the other planner as a source for questions, feedback and brainstorming. I quickly became the task taker, even though I technically had more experience under my belt than my counterpart. I didn't mind at first and saw it as an opportunity to work harder and prove my knowledge. I noticed he treated the female associate on the account similarly. I hate to say it, but due to the fact that the treatment started immediately, I really think it was a bit of a sexism issue. I had absolutely no respect from this supervisor and the negative treatment and extreme criticism of my work became so apparent that other team members started to notice. I take criticism and feedback well, but I started to develop anxiety due to the micromanagement this supervisor developed over my emails, sentence structure and even ways in which I asked questions (I majored in journalism, this should have been a minor issue). He made me feel unworthy to be on his team. This was addressed with HR when I left, I just hope it was resolved for the associate who stayed. As strong as I am, I became miserable. I could not stand to work there any longer. However, DigitasLBi was a wonderful place to work aside from this negative experience.
