Pros
I had exposure to many aspects of the field- insurance reviews, chronically suicidal youth, group and individual work, crisis intervention, and on call work.
Cons
I took a job as an LMSW therapist here soon after graduating with my MSW. I had approximately 5 clinical supervisors in the 8 months I worked in this role who left either due to being fired or due to burn out. I took the role knowing that as a very new therapist working with chronically suicidal adolescents, I would need strong supervision which I had asked about on interview, and did not get, leaving my extremely vulnerable patients and their families working with brand new therapists who were WAY out of their depth with extremely limited guidance. I wish I had the confidence to leave this role much much sooner. I am so grateful the I found an agency that was able to provide me the clinical supervision and training ground I needed to provide the quality of care patients need and deserve. In my experience, companies such as Discovery, Newport Academy, and Turnbridge, among others, hire new grads with a salary that is enough above other local agencies to get new grads to turn a blind eye to poor reviews. Please ask lots of questions during the interview to determine if your needs as a new clinician can be met at this facility, and to determine the quality of care patients receive here.
