Pros

-Employees are paid well -Flexible work schedule (sometimes) with generous PTO and 9/80 work schedule -Niche energy market with stable clients and growing industry -Diverse workforce, with a few really smart individuals -Challenging Work

Cons

-EN (especially their HQ in Chicago) have a real problem with saying one thing and doing another that often harms the employee financially and in regards to their career -Constant turnover; revolving door of people that results in a flood of new college grads expected to teach themselves with little guidance or clearly defined scope of work -NO accountability ANYWHERE in the company -Quality control is nonexistent resulting in most projects being over budget and behind schedule -Many employees are overworked and expected to work 50-60 hour weeks while others don't seem to do anything -No consistency between departments regarding rules, attitudes, and expectations -Managers lack any managerial skills and often ignore problems presented to them -No clear career path; one of the only ways to move up is by threatening to leave and work for the client; employees have no say in jobs or departments they want to work -Bonus pools at the end of the year are split 90% among the few managers and 10% between the many employees (you do the math) -NO continuing education (although they tell you it exists) Overall very stressful and unsatisfying at the end of the day. The competitive pay does not make up for the job. Leaving the company was the best career decision I've ever made

Pros

Flexible working hours and location - come into the office 1 day/wk or less Chicago office has a gym and nice building

Cons

I was told that I would be a Project Engineer, but management decided to downgrade my role to Design Engineer I without informing me. I was given only positive feedback, only to find out when leaving that I was not meeting expectations. No formal performance review process from HR. Pay is below industry standard. Had several HR complaints about team members becoming angry when trying to learn new concepts, sending inappropriate messages, and not providing the training they promised. If you want a role in a stable industry that does not offer much in terms of social interactions or career growth, this is a reasonable role. If you want to achieve more, feel valued, and feel comfortable in the workplace, look elsewhere.
