Pros
- People are really great to work with,* pretty knowledgeable bunch of people, professional and supportive. The only actual highlight of the place. Although, I have heard in non-Energetics teams that there are some toxic people (e.g. unkind/hostile people - wouldn't go so far as to say bullying, but definitely wouldn't want to work with them myself) so I think it really depends on what team you're set up in - Flexibility - no issues in working around personal life as long as work gets done - Opportunity to learn a lot of varying things - people are willing to teach you *Note: Worked only within the Energetics teams but with the way the company is set up, everyone under ERM works in the same office
Cons
- Office is dead - Perth office is in dire need of energy, not sure how they'd fix it, but the non-CBD location is definitely not helping. While the Energetics people are great to work with, they're mostly online, making it isolating in the ERM office. - High billable targets and workload mismatch - There's quite a high billable hours goal for everyone. However, the amount of work directed to us makes it very hard to meet this goal. Majority don't actually meet their billable goal. - Promotions tied to billable hours - continuing on from point above, it seems that people often stay at the level they're hired at. Promotions are few and far between. - If you're a junior who already has some experience, beyond entry level, learning opportunities may not be as exciting for you - compensation is at/below market value for this type of role anyway, and definitely not the greatest for someone who already has experience - Layoffs within some teams is discouraging
