Pros

ERM has a very strong safety culture and they go out of their way to make sure their staff is safe while at work, especially when on site. Safety training is equally comprehensive. Lots of variety in this line of work. Unlike with other kinds of consulting, you work on multiple projects at the same time, which means there can be lots of variety in the kinds of work you do. Junior staff tends to get good experience early on in their careers if they show that they are ready for it. ERM doesn't limit what you are allowed to do based on your position. Lots of opportunities for work at client facilities or in the field, if that is what you are into. The company has a lot of highly intelligent, hard-working people.

Cons

Pay is VERY low for the amount of effort and work that is expected out of you. Health benefits and 401k are ok, PTO is pretty low to start. Management tends to only care about utilization, and they expect you to work overtime to meet utilization goals. They are also reluctant to send you to training because that is time away from billable work. Projects are often underbudgeted so that ERM wins the project, but the result is that you can't charge all the hours you spend working on projects, but management still expects you to bill 40 (or more) hours every week.

Pros

Cool projects. Diversity of work

Cons

Basically every 15 minutes need to be billed to a client. If not you will be penalized even if they say you’re doing great.
