Pros

Product/mission/basics are all good. Company trajectory seems okay although not great.

Cons

Extreme finger-pointing culture. Here is the problem: leadership is tone-deaf, personal and insulting in their feedback, every single function leader. As a result, people fear for their jobs and are extremely stressed on a personal level. Knowing this, how can you even blame the people that point fingers, immediately up-level all minor issues to management, and essentially try to make other people look bad constantly? They are trying to save their own livelihood. It is literally bad mojo flowing downhill. Employees at Eightfold are constantly presented with impossible goals because leadership A) doesn't understand what they are asking for and B) will straight up threaten their positions if they offer anything other than complete agreement - it creates desperation. It's a poisonous feedback loop and a reason why this company is having trouble retaining and hiring people. How many companies have we read about doing the right thing for their teams during the pandemic? This company has done the opposite. Huge number of current employees so bitter about how leadership has treated them that they are rooting against the company...great.

Pros

As a recent hire, my onboarding experience has been surprisingly smooth. Like any high-growth technology company, there is definitely some "drinking from the fire hose" in the first few weeks, but that's largely because there is so much happening across the business. The team has been welcoming, supportive, and willing to invest time in helping new employees ramp up. What has stood out most is the company's vision and the pace of innovation. It feels like there is a constant stream of product announcements, new capabilities, and customer momentum. If you're someone who enjoys being close to emerging AI technology and wants to help shape the future rather than maintain the status quo, there's a lot to be excited about here. The people are smart, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about solving complex problems. There is also a strong sense of ownership and opportunity to make an impact regardless of tenure.

Cons

The pace is not for everyone. Priorities can move quickly as the company responds to market opportunities, and you should be prepared to learn fast and navigate some ambiguity. Having a proactive mindset is important.

Pros

They pay top dollar, but that comes at a cost of you working your butt off and still feeling like you might lose your job tomorrow.

Cons

Easily the worst company I have worked at. The foundational pieces of a culture from work life balance, basic psychological safety, opportunity to work with kind leaders who lead…were absolutely missing and lacking. From waking up to too many fire drill Slack messages, to working late at night, to being ridiculed by leadership, I can’t tell you how many horror stories I have gained. It’s truly sad because there are so many really good ICs and a couple fantastic leaders (but they couldn’t shift the culture alone). I am so happy I no longer work here. Not to mention the product was so aspirational to the extent that it was hard to tell what value was being received by customers. Churn was high and it is a miracle that customers stayed…The CS team worked endlessly to keep them. I actually feel horrible sharing all this, but I’m inclined to because unless it has made a complete 180 in the last year, this is not a place I’d ever recommend.
