Pros

Free trips to sales pitches and the India office flying coach.

Cons

Deeply toxic, fear-based culture and inept leadership team. Rampant in-group favoritism and top-town, authoritarian management style. Throwing people under the bus is done with Olympian-level athleticism. The legacy CEO has ZERO charisma, surrounds himself with sycophants, and has long been in denial of the cultural problems. A common refrain from leadership is “figure it out” with no interest in helping their teams problem-solve. Those that succeed do so by punting things over the fence to others, creating a culture that rewards mediocrity and yes-manship, and pushes those that are high performers to misery and stagnation. This is evident in how fast ex-FAANG and top talent leave or are managed out. The real culture is a comical inversion of their core principles. Extreme ownership? Leadership never roll up their sleaves, have massive egos, and blame downward. Compassion? Leaders frequently humiliate and demean their most junior subbordinates in public forums, and scream at them in private. Excellence? The most mediocre professionals thrive through cronyism. Diversity? On certain teams you will struggle to succeed and be treated as an “other” if you are not part of the majority group. The culture at Eightfold seems more focused on theatrics to appease and flatter leadership, rather than encouraging an open pursuit of truth and innovation. But decent compensation right? Nope, not when you consider the poor work life balance, lack respect for the “unlimited” PTO nobody takes, and a solid 65 hour work week with daily late-night calls with the India team. These aspects collectively contribute to a challenging work environment that jeopardizes the potential of the company. I hope this feedback serves as constructive input for improvement. For those considering working at Eightfold, know that the reviews and rumors are not exaggerations - it is a remarkably unhappy work environment.

Pros

As a recent hire, my onboarding experience has been surprisingly smooth. Like any high-growth technology company, there is definitely some "drinking from the fire hose" in the first few weeks, but that's largely because there is so much happening across the business. The team has been welcoming, supportive, and willing to invest time in helping new employees ramp up. What has stood out most is the company's vision and the pace of innovation. It feels like there is a constant stream of product announcements, new capabilities, and customer momentum. If you're someone who enjoys being close to emerging AI technology and wants to help shape the future rather than maintain the status quo, there's a lot to be excited about here. The people are smart, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about solving complex problems. There is also a strong sense of ownership and opportunity to make an impact regardless of tenure.

Cons

The pace is not for everyone. Priorities can move quickly as the company responds to market opportunities, and you should be prepared to learn fast and navigate some ambiguity. Having a proactive mindset is important.

Pros

They pay top dollar, but that comes at a cost of you working your butt off and still feeling like you might lose your job tomorrow.

Cons

Easily the worst company I have worked at. The foundational pieces of a culture from work life balance, basic psychological safety, opportunity to work with kind leaders who lead…were absolutely missing and lacking. From waking up to too many fire drill Slack messages, to working late at night, to being ridiculed by leadership, I can’t tell you how many horror stories I have gained. It’s truly sad because there are so many really good ICs and a couple fantastic leaders (but they couldn’t shift the culture alone). I am so happy I no longer work here. Not to mention the product was so aspirational to the extent that it was hard to tell what value was being received by customers. Churn was high and it is a miracle that customers stayed…The CS team worked endlessly to keep them. I actually feel horrible sharing all this, but I’m inclined to because unless it has made a complete 180 in the last year, this is not a place I’d ever recommend.
