Pros

Mission-driven product: The company’s focus on leveraging AI for talent matching has real potential Smart, capable colleagues: Many teams include bright, motivated individuals who care about their work and are genuinely trying to make a difference.

Cons

Concerns about Eightfold's culture are unfortunately well founded. The environment is fear-driven, cliquish, and controlled by a leadership team that deflects accountability and rewards loyalty over competence. High performers either burn out or are quietly exited, while politics and mediocrity flourish. The founding CEO has surrounded himself with yes-men and has long turned a blind eye to the company’s deep-rooted cultural dysfunction. The recent hire of a Chief People Officer offered a glimmer of hope, but early signs point to performative actions rather than meaningful change—potentially reinforcing, rather than fixing, the status quo. Despite its branding, the company does not live its stated values. “Extreme ownership” is just a slogan; leaders routinely shift blame downward and disengage from real accountability. Culture initiatives are superficial, psychological safety is non-existent, and work-life balance is lacking. “Unlimited PTO” is a trap no one feels safe using, and late-night meetings are normalized.

Pros

As a recent hire, my onboarding experience has been surprisingly smooth. Like any high-growth technology company, there is definitely some "drinking from the fire hose" in the first few weeks, but that's largely because there is so much happening across the business. The team has been welcoming, supportive, and willing to invest time in helping new employees ramp up. What has stood out most is the company's vision and the pace of innovation. It feels like there is a constant stream of product announcements, new capabilities, and customer momentum. If you're someone who enjoys being close to emerging AI technology and wants to help shape the future rather than maintain the status quo, there's a lot to be excited about here. The people are smart, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about solving complex problems. There is also a strong sense of ownership and opportunity to make an impact regardless of tenure.

Cons

The pace is not for everyone. Priorities can move quickly as the company responds to market opportunities, and you should be prepared to learn fast and navigate some ambiguity. Having a proactive mindset is important.

Pros

They pay top dollar, but that comes at a cost of you working your butt off and still feeling like you might lose your job tomorrow.

Cons

Easily the worst company I have worked at. The foundational pieces of a culture from work life balance, basic psychological safety, opportunity to work with kind leaders who lead…were absolutely missing and lacking. From waking up to too many fire drill Slack messages, to working late at night, to being ridiculed by leadership, I can’t tell you how many horror stories I have gained. It’s truly sad because there are so many really good ICs and a couple fantastic leaders (but they couldn’t shift the culture alone). I am so happy I no longer work here. Not to mention the product was so aspirational to the extent that it was hard to tell what value was being received by customers. Churn was high and it is a miracle that customers stayed…The CS team worked endlessly to keep them. I actually feel horrible sharing all this, but I’m inclined to because unless it has made a complete 180 in the last year, this is not a place I’d ever recommend.
