International Student trap - Power Systems Engineer III Electric Power Engineers Employee Review

Pros

Decent pay (as of 2025), flexible remote work, sponsors international students

Cons

Less than average salary, too focused on revenue, employees stop learning 2 years in. Management uses uncertain conditions for international students as leverage. Work from home means you are expected to work overtime, specifically end of months where management tries to squeeze in projects to meet (unrealistic) revenue goals. Expect to have to run simulations all night. When burnt out management does not recognize it and blames you for being not efficient. You also are expected to log your time daily (with an accuracy of 15 mins), with a tight budget for hours. You will eventually need to lie about your hours to fit your budget (management even helps with that). Its just completely stupid. I hated my life at EPE.
