Pros

Getting to work within breath-taking Boynton Canyon was incredible. Being able to regularly take in the natural beauty really helped me appreciate my job. The staff at Enchantment are naturally friendly, helpful, and hard-working. From entry-level to corporate level, I had many positive experiences with everyone associated with the resort. I appreciated the free staff lunches as well. It was one less thing to think about and prepare before coming to work. The resort is a bit "off the beaten path", a minimum 30 minute round trip drive to the nearest restaurant.

Cons

The pay was very disappointing and ultimately made me leave my position. I worked my butt off through the chaos of COVID and scored well on performance reviews, yet my annual raise was a measly $0.15 and hour. Although any raise should be appreciated and valued, this was a laughable amount based on how much work I put into this job. At Enchantment, don't expect compensation to be monetarily competitive. You are "compensated" by getting to work in one of the most breath-taking places in the world with a friendly team at your side. This job can also be extremely stressful and busy at times. I sometimes found it difficult to offer guests my full attention and services. Often, I had to "triage" multiple guest needs, leaving some guests unattended for far too long. During the spring and fall, busy season is in full swing and it felt understaffed at times.

Pros

The property is one of a kind. It is beautifully surrounded by the red rocks and high desert landscape. There are great kind people that work there. And they truly care about each other and the guests. But not at the higher levels. The shuttle is a great service but you also have to be on its time. They do provide a meal. And there are really great room discounts if you’re able to take the time off but staffing is always an issue.

Cons

But where it matters is not great. From ownership to upper management there is a complete disconnect on the identity of the resort. Which then makes lower level teams seem chaotic and confusing to guests. There is a self righteousness from some of the executive team. There is a complete lack of communication between departments. They won’t/can’t hire qualified staff because they have this idea that the pay is comparable to other places around. It is not. Retaliation for complaining is rampant and you definitely can’t have open conversations with leadership much less Human Resources. There is a reason there is always 30+ positions open. People do not stay here because they do not know how to treat their employees. They have to use temp services because they can’t keep regular staff. Especially in the kitchens. Clear timely direction is not a known concept.
