Pros

Individual offices, good food, good pay for the location, good buildings. (for everyone) Good projects, good managers, good team (if you are lucky enough).

Cons

In my case, they hired me as a C# web developer, trained me for 6 months on C# and then I was given VB projects. I had a bad team. I am not even sure that the team I worked with at least knew the rest of the team mates. It doesn't fit software developers who wish to work on latest technologies. At Epic, all the tools they use are built by them, so it is difficult to use the learnings at Epic elsewhere.

Pros

Impact: You are part of creating systemic level change for healthcare organizations. You get to be on site and work directly with providers and see how these changes impact their communities. People: Extremely smart and capable. I feel like I can rely on my team in a way I haven't at previous employers. New hires are entry level, so there's a strong community for people in a similar stage of life. Culture: Quirky but in a real, unique way. People are collaborative and celebrate shared accomplishments. The campus enshrines a very specific (and fun!) vibe. Location: Madison is awesome. Benefits: The health insurance is unparalleled. Sabbatical is a super cool perk too. Growth: A lot of autonomy and responsibility allows people to rise to the challenge. Stability: Solid industry, no lay-offs.

Cons

Remote work flexibility: 5 days a year
