Pros
The only real pro I can think of is that it's extremely difficult to get fired at Eurofins. Don't lie about your time punches or falsify data and you will be able to get away with the bare minimum for as long as you want. I have seen more demotions than I have terminations. I will also say that I have had the pleasure of working with so many truly kind, hardworking, helpful, and brilliant people from all around the world during my time at Eurofins. I have learned a lot and enjoyed most of it, but that is, again, due to my fellow peons and not the company.
Cons
-The pay is extremely low across all departments/roles and there are no actual performance-based wage increases for the vast majority of employees; just the standard 3% "cost of living" adjustment that hasn't matched inflation for years now. You will not be able to significantly increase your quality of life on the wages Eurofins supplies unless you somehow manage to nab a huge title change. -To expand on my last point, there is almost no chance of significant upward mobility for 99% of employees. At least at my BU, there is an almost non-existent initiative to notify current employees of new job openings or promotion opportunities. Many mid-level roles get filled with external hires for a couple of reasons: 1) current employees simply are not made aware of what other opportunities exist within the company, or even within their own BU, and 2) Eurofins actively chooses not to invest in their current employees and does not provide them with adequate professional development opportunities. I actually had a director-level employee admit to me, verbatim, that Eurofins had failed so intensely to prepare an entire department's worth of people for advancement that they had no choice but to go with an external hire for the vacant dept. manager role. An external applicant who had to be taught how to password protect a Word document, mind you. On a separate occasion, two years later, another manager left, and instead of promoting that manager's designated backup, whom the departing manager had explicitly recommended for promotion on their way out, Eurofins again hired an external candidate. The bottom line is that Eurofins seems neither able nor willing to foster a supportive environment to help their employees grow and succeed professionally. Any claims they make about ample growth opportunities within the company are bold-faced lies. -There seems to be a stratum of mid-level managers that get shuffled around between departments due to the constant high turnover and disorganized restructuring. It doesn't matter whether these people are competent at all, just that they've got a pulse and aren't validating fake data. This, combined with my first two points, results in a few difficult-to-work-with, low performers who are allowed to coast while eager, competent, but less experienced staff get siloed and saddled with more and more responsibility, but no pay increase, until they leave for greener pastures. -Some of the most convoluted org charts I've ever seen. It really seems like some people just become favorites and get a new job title created for them out of thin air. It happens so frequently that I feel it can't be a coincidence and it is definitely not good for lower-level employees' morale. If you see opportunities constantly materializing for people above you but none for your peers, why would you have hope that this is a company you can thrive and grow at? I get the feeling many are constantly searching for better jobs behind the scenes. -Terrible IT support - not the techs themselves, but the ticketing systems etc. are difficult to navigate and nobody ever knows who to contact for what. There is a huge emphasis on each BU being its own entity but not when it comes to IT support for the numerous outdated, buggy, proprietary software systems we're forced to use. There are no local IT staff on site. There is no one to provide feedback or QOL suggestions to. None of the software is updated or improved tangibly, but it still breaks all the time. Despite this, all systems are ruled by an unseen iron fist. You can't even delete unused shortcut icons off your own desktop without entering an admin password. Insane. -Overall, just a really janky, underwhelming, behind-the-times company to work for in every sense. The facilities are old, leaky, wild temperature fluctuations, negative building pressure, pests, frayed carpet, etc. The benefits packages are very basic with no stipends of any kind. Low bonuses, if your position even qualifies for one (most don't). Lame holiday gifts like company-branded lunch boxes and umbrellas that go straight into the Goodwill pile. Constant pizza parties and raffles for community theater tickets in the name of "employee engagement". You know what'll engage me? Paying me a livable wage. -There is no company culture to speak of. Eurofins does not seem dedicated to or even interested in anything in particular beyond maximizing profits at any cost. There is no emphasis on true diversity, innovation, creativity, employee satisfaction, the environment, social causes... nothing. Nada. Beyond some coworkers or clients you may build relationships with, you will not feel like a "part of something bigger" at this company. The feeling that you're making a difference at anything will fade quickly. Once that happens, get out quick for your own sanity.
