Pros
There could be no better mission. It’s wonderful knowing that I’m making a difference in the fight against cancer. Great pay and benefits and some departments work genuinely well together.
Cons
Extremely obvious power plays and politics at a leadership level. Do a lot of talking about transparency, but cannot seem to answer direct questions. Some leaders are just nasty, saying cringe-worthy things to and about their own staff and others in meetings. Apparently that’s okay, although one would hope for a higher degree of professionalism from leadership. There is never a reason to be that awful to people. Certain departments operate with the arrogance of the royal court, and blame everyone else for their own failures. We hear leadership preach to us about how important it is to accept change, yet they seem to miss the irony that all the company does is change – it is constant. Leadership seems oblivious to how stressful it is on a workforce to undergo constant change without any logical explanation of why it is taking place. This is not the same thing as working in an ever-changing industry – we get that better than has been acknowledged. This is unnecessary change inside the organization as your leaders jockey for position and protect their own interests. It is exhausting to those of us out here just trying to get our work done.
