Middle management keeps pressing employees to work more and more hours, both in the office and out. In addition, it seems that middle management is less and less educated about specific issues in their deparments. They constantly consider every 'problem' a crisis and pull every fire alarm they can reach. Then at the end of the year, you are judged by a panel of middle management to see how worthy you are of a year end bonus. If one or more members of that panel doesn't like you personally, then you can kiss your bonus goodbye.
