Pros

- Flexible self-made schedule and choice of salaried quota - Staten Island has a dense patient population - allows for decreased travel time between patients and reliable parking - Autonomy in treating your patients - Opportunity to work in either community homes or SLCs - Opportunity for deep connections with patients/families across time - Meaningful fulfilling work - Great communicative team and helpful leadership - Work-sponsored social event with coworkers every other month - Opportunity to bank your overtime to either be paid out, cushion a challenging week, or be used for PTO (in addition to base PTO) - Leadership is doing their best to support the practice in the midst of Medicare cuts, implementing new programs

Cons

- Some unbillable time - travel, phone calls, creating schedule - Point of service documentation is highly encouraged and promoted but can be challenging. Recently improved efficiency (2026) with changes to EMR and transition to iPads - Limited in-person engagement with treatment team, unless you work in a SLC

Pros

The biggest pros are the flexibility and autonomy. Being able to create my own schedule has greatly improved my work-life balance, and I appreciate being able to treat patients closer to home. FOX also provides a lot of resources and support for its clinicians. From continuing education opportunities to clinical guidance and helpful treatment resources, I always feel like I have what I need to provide quality patient care.

Cons

One challenge with home care is that last-minute patient cancellations do happen, which can leave unexpected gaps in your day. However, because of the flexible scheduling, it’s usually easy to reschedule those visits later in the week, making it much easier to stay on track with patient care.
