Pros

Make your own schedule. Usually a competitive salary.

Cons

Low PTO which is important when patients cancel and you may end up having to use PTO to make up the difference for your quota. Quota driven...do whatever to reach that quota, including overutilization of insurance benefits. While starting salary is competitive, there is very little recognition of how a therapist handles this job requiring a lot of unpaid hours between travel and planning schedule. So in terms of encouraging a Clinician to remain on the team, there is little support in this nature, which is understandable with their preference for hiring new grads. Instead of giving experienced clinicians a reason to stay, they've banked on these clinicians not wanting to find new jobs, and if they do, they just higher a new grad at a lower salary anyway. The benefit of new grads for thus company: creating a cult like environment. "Advocate for your patients," has been warped into overutilization...because they have thousands of clinicians across the US, they are sending likely over 10000 claims per day...banking on the fact that even of they have a few of these claims flagged, they still have many others going through. CMS simply cannot keep up and new grads may not question this kind of culture.

Pros

The biggest pros are the flexibility and autonomy. Being able to create my own schedule has greatly improved my work-life balance, and I appreciate being able to treat patients closer to home. FOX also provides a lot of resources and support for its clinicians. From continuing education opportunities to clinical guidance and helpful treatment resources, I always feel like I have what I need to provide quality patient care.

Cons

One challenge with home care is that last-minute patient cancellations do happen, which can leave unexpected gaps in your day. However, because of the flexible scheduling, it’s usually easy to reschedule those visits later in the week, making it much easier to stay on track with patient care.
