Pros
Most of the employees are supper friendly and want you to succeed; there is a sense of cooperation and team support.
Cons
This multi building campus is much larger than any other long term care facility and it is run by the local government. Some of the policies and procedures and "way of doing things" goes way back to the 1940s-it can be maddening! The temperature in the building I work in features jungle like heat with plenty of humidity, which adds another layer of stress to the already understaffed and overworked aides and nurses! The majority of the residents have significant mental problems, which is challenging to work with. The pay scale is the lowest I have ever seen for aides, LPNs and RNs. I am truly amazed that the aides making minimum wage choose the nurse's aide position over working in a fast food restaurant-the pay is the exact same, but the amount of stress is way off the scale. Not much support from Administration
