Pros
-If you want to work for a republican political organization that happens to have an insurance company, this is the place for you. -Good place to get your industry designations as they do have a great continuing education program. -You get to choose your company car and are not charged for personal miles, only taxed for the value of the personal use of the vehicle.
Cons
-Very difficult as a claims handler to manage expectations from client members, agents, and supervisors. A lot of the big farmers and high ups in the federation expect special treatment. You will not do well if you try to treat everyone the same. Very unscrupulous company that is borderline unethical. Farmers and corporate agriculture is overpaid at the expense of the common policy holder who has to pay crazy premiums to balance this. I did not like having to play favorites and found more gainful employment at a company that values ethics and equality. -Agents expect you to overpay claims and provide coverage for items even though they are specifically excluded. Again, you have to play favorites to keep their large clients happy. -Management will not back up your decisions if an agent goes over your head which they commonly do. -Company does not listen to suggestions from employees to improve processes and is very old fashioned.
