Cross-team communication is lacking for certain areas resulting in 'fires' that cause developers to have to work long hours because they were blindsided by production changes made by another team.
I've personally experienced two promotions where I had to 'try out' the position before I actually got the job. First time for about a year and the second time it was about 4-6 months. If you're doing the work of that position you need to be paid for it, period.
Salary is based off of title in HR system, which is good & bad. They've made strides over the past couple years to try and keep everyone at a fair market rate, but several years ago when I joined the engineering team that I work on now there was an engineer making more than I currently make. Which is crazy considering I'm now a team lead over the section that they worked on.
